The grain elevator - a prairie icon serving as a farmer’s last stop after a bountiful fall harvest. Those who have traveled through the prairies know them well, using them as landmarks and town identifiers. Once common in virtually every community in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, the traditional wooden grain elevator is quickly disappearing from the prairie landscape.
Glen Scrimshaw has once again captured the simplistic beauty of this important piece of our history. Aptly titled "Days Gone By", this piece depicts twin prairie sentinels bathed in the cool light of a full winter moon, while the glow of the northern lights radiates down from above. A lone wagon wheel, symbolizing the simpler time of days gone by, leans silently against a fence post, and an aged prairie town looks on with ever darkening eyes.
Own a piece of history – "Days Gone By" is a worthy addition to any art collection.
