Law Enforcement
The Town of Duck Lake receives services from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment located in Rosthern.
The Rosthern detachment consists of fourteen staff including civilians.
Fire Protection
The Duck Lake Volunteer Fire Department consists of approximately 15 members who provide round-the-clock protection utilizing a 911 pager system which contacts them and transmits the location of the fire.

Duck Lake is located midway between Prince Albert and Saskatoon on Highway #11 at the junction of Highway #212.
The average annual daily traffic is as follows:
- #11 North & Southbound - 3360 vehicles
- #212 - 1040 vehicles.
Truck Transport
Duck Lake is served by Rosthern Valley Transfer, Purolator Courier, Brinks, Co-Op and Loomis. This form of transportation has increased over the last few years.
Passenger Bus Service
Duck Lake is serviced by the Saskatchewan Transportation Company seven days a week. There are six buses daily and packages up to 100 pounds are accommodated by bus freight services.
Ferries
There is ferries service on either side of Duck Lake. The Wingard Ferry to the West, crosses the North Saskatchewan River and connects people to various towns and northern lakes. To the East is the St. Laurent Ferry. It crosses the South Saskatchewan River, making a shorter trip to some of the historic sites.
These Ferries not only provide transportation but also enjoyment for those people who cross the river to fish, picnics or for some to experience the thrill of riding the ferry for the first time.
Railways
Rail service in Duck Lake is provided by the Canadian National Railway. Loading facilities are also available in Town.
Air Service
Air Serviceis is accessible in Prince Albert (46 km) and Saskatoon (88 km). The Prince Albert Air Strip is the closest Air Service available with a 1525 concrete runway. Regina has the nearest customs office.

Duck lake has commercial and industrial properties available for purchase or rent in the main street area of town. Residential lots, throughout town, are offered at the price of $20 of r a unserviced lot. Lots serviced with water, sewer or pavement have an additional cost of one half the expense of these services at the time they were completed. Tax title property is sold at Councils discretion. Lot size varies. A stipulation of purchase is that a taxable structure be in place within one year. Building permits and regulations must be adhered. All sales are subject to Council approval.

Duck Lake has several government services available only 18 kilometers away. SaskPower, SaskEnergy, SaskTel and Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation all maintain services in Duck Lake. Offices that are also easily accessible are Community Resources, and Employment, the Public Health Nures, the Chiropodist and the Health Region.

Duck Lake and District Nursing Home (Godwill Manor)
The Duck Lake and DIstrict Nursing Home is located in the Town of Duck Lake at 501 Victoria Avenue. The thirty bed Nursing Hoem is affiliated with the Saskatoon Health Region and provides care to Level III and Level IV residents as well as Repite Care and offers an Adult Dya Program for seniors.

Snowmobiling
Popular river hilsl, as well as the Nisbet Forest, are just a few kilometers from Duck Lake.
Maps of the snowmobile trails in the Nisbet Forest, are available upon request at the Town Office. These maps are drawn by the Sakatchwan Association.
Baseball
There are three ball diamonds west of the Regional Interretive Centre; all are fenced, shaled and equipped with sprinkler systems.
Hockey/Skating
The Duck Lake Arena has assisted ice enabling people to enjoy hockey, recreational hockey, and other skating activities.
The Beardy's and Okemasis Reserve arena is a state of the art hockey rink with modern touches including artificial ice. This arena is home to a Junior hockey team which results in some good hockey.
Skiing
The best Cross-country skiing is located in Duck Lake's back door at Eb's Trail in the Nisbet Forest. The trails all vary in difficulty and are great for both expert and beginner skiers.
Canoeing
Both the North and South Saskatchewan River provides a challenging and exciting experience.
Biking and Hiking
There are numerous trails that people can go on or they can just go around the Town and enjoy all the historic sites.
Hunting
The area around Duck Lake is excellent for duck, and to some extent geese, because of the number of sloughs and the two rivers that are on either side of Duck Lake. There is also elk and black bear season that hunters from all over the Province can relish. Deer populations are high because there are numerous bush clumps and a forest that they can take refuge in. The deer also graze in the meadows and on river banks. The land structure around Duck Lake makes for a spirited chase that is rewarded with satisfaction of besting nature and maybe even shooting a prize buck.
Fishing
There are many northern lakes just a couple hours from Duck Lake. Trout, Perch, Northern Pike, and Pickerel are the most common fish found in these lakes. Pike and some Pickerel are caught in both Saskatchewan Rivers.
Mini Golf
Northcote Art'n Antiques has a challenging 18 hole course. Valley Regional Park (near Rosthern) has a 18 hole course also.

Duck Lake Lions Park Located in the center of town it contains a playground and areas for people to relax.
Regional Parks
Valley Regional Park - Rosthern The Valley Regional Park is located 18 kilometers North of Duck Lake on Highway #11 . The Valley Regional Park has a 9-hole grass green irrigated golf course including a newly developed driving range, a beautiful camp ground with 56 sites (electrical and non-electrical sites are available). The park also offers an excellent recreational playground and a miniature golf course. Potable water is also available.
Wakaw Lake Regional Park - Wakaw Lake Regional Park is located sixty-one kilometers Northeast of Duck Lake on highway #312. This Regional Park offers fishing, camping, boating, and golf.
Valley Regional Park - Waldheim The Valley Regional park in Waldheim has a 9 - hole sand green golf course. For those people who like to fish there is a trout pond located within the park.
Provincial Forest Reserve (Nisbet Forest)
The Nisbet Forest is located only a couple of kilometers north of Duck Lake on Highway #11 and offers a wilderness that any nature lover would appreciate. In summer there are hiking trails, and in the winter the Forest offers the best cross-country ski trails. It is the home of the Lilliplane Loppit that begins at Lilliplane Hall. People of all ski abilities will enjoy the trails. There are also log cabins throughout the Nisbet Forest where people can warm up and admire the scenery. Lakes and Rivers The North and South Saskatchewan rivers are perfect for canoeing, especially when they run through one of Canada's most significant historical areas. There are also two ferries that cross the two rivers. It does not matter how many times a person has ridden on a ferry because every trip is as exhilarating as the next. Within a huge radius of Duck Lake there are hundreds of lakes and resorts that are perfect for recreation activities for the entire family. These lakes offer fishing, sailing, water skiing, and canoeing.

National Parks
Prince Albert National Park - Waskesiu is only 129 kilometers North of Duck Lake on Highway #11. This park offers a variety of activities for people of all ages. There is one of the most challenging 18-hole golf courses in Saskatchewan, along with hiking trails, camping, boating, fishing, and shopping.

The area which is The Heart of Canada's Old Northwest has been only recently established and contains agricultural, archaeological and historical attractions and facilities. The geographical makeup of this area is comprised of a triangular area between Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and the Battlefords. This area is recognized by the Federal and Provincial Governments.
National
1. Batoche National Historical Park - Relates the history of the Metis and the events of the Battle of Batoche of 1885 through a audio-visual presentation, displays of artifacts, and exhibits. Tours are also available of the old church, the rectory, the rifle pits and the cemetery. Batoche is located twenty-nine kilometers northeast of Duck Lake on Highway #312.
2. Fish Creek Battle Site - Shows the first battle between Gabriel Dumont and General Middleton's forces. Fish Creek is located thirty-two kilometers southeast on Highway #312.
Provincial Historic Park
Historic Park Fort Carlton was the most important trading post in the Northwest and is only a twenty-six kilometer drive from Duck Lake. There are many activities at the Fort as well as trails to walk on, a camp ground, and a variety of historic artifacts to look at.
Municipal Historic Sites
1. The Regional Interpretive Center located in Duck Lake contains many interesting displays, a theater, a tower with a viewing platform, and a sculpture court where key figures of Duck Lake are honored.
2. The Cairn is located just west of Duck Lake on Highway #212. This historic site is the landmark where the first shots were fired in the Battle of Duck Lake.
3. The St. Laurent Shrine is located a few kilometers North of Duck Lake. The Shrine started as an Order of the Oblate Mission in 1874 and was devoted to Our Lady of Lourdes. The St. Laurent Shrine is the destination of the Pilgrimage that is held twice every year. There is also a picnic area and a grotto for those people who wish to visit this spectacular place.
4. Located in the Town of Duck Lake is the Old Jail where Almighty Voice was held prisoner. This historic site is adjacent to the Almighty Voice mural so people can be educated in Duck Lake's history.
