New Contest

Glen Scrimshaw is partnering with The Big River Recreational Improvement Association on a new piece of artwork. Having grown up in Big River Saskatchewan Glen is very happy to be assisting in helping the Big River RIA in raising much needed dollars to fund Capital Purchases in the area. This new original by Glen will be raffled off in 2026 and more details on tickets will be forthcoming.

Fun Fact:

Big River is one of a small amount of towns in Canada that have their main street ending in a lake. The town “Dock” brings many memories and experiences to almost every resident or visitor to Big River over 100 years.

The New Piece of Artwork

Glen chose this iconic spot looking up Cowan Lake showing the Dock and the famous Tug Boat "Beth Kay" used for years to pull large booms of logs down the lake to the sawmill in Big River.

In this new piece, the northern lights will be blazing in the sky with their reflection glimmering in the lake. Fall colours are seen on the shores of the lake and Glen plans to hide many items in this work that have helped shape Big River over the years the the town it is today. A few items that will be hidden are; Sawmill, logging, fishing (commercial/tourist), Hockey, gateway to the north and so on.
